In your original post you have NaOMe as the reagent. In the mechanism HBr. So which did you use?

That mechanism uses HBr.
In your original post you have NaOMe as the reagent.
What is the difference between HBr and NaOMe?

MeONa is a salt of weak acid and strong base. This should help you with your question now.
