Title: how to remove dichloromethan from aqueous solution (<10 ppm)
Post by: karl26 on September 15, 2007, 04:32:05 AM
Hi,

I need to remove dichloromethan from aqueous solutions (the quantity has to be < 10 ppm)

does anyone know a procedure which is suitable to work on 1-2 liters of aqueous solution ?

I have a lot of aqueous solution, so I can lose some. I can heat it as well.

many thanks

 ;)

Check a chemistry handbook to see if dichloromethane forms an azeotrope with water. If so you could try steam distillation. Blow live steam into your solution in a round-bottomed flask and the solvent should come over with the condensate.

The concentration is very low.
Wich final concentration do you expect?
If the distillation doesn´t work, how about Liquid-Liquid extraction and then you can distillate the other solvent.
