???
I know im stupid and I would never do anything like this again but Im just looking for some information on this chemical. I went to the hospital because I made (something smokable) out of isopropyl alcohol. They told me at the hospital that its not very serious to smoke isopropyl and it would just leave me sick for a few days. But now im beginning to think that maybe I smoked plastic since the isopropyl was sitting in a plastic container for about 2 days before I smoked it. Im worried that the isopropyl soaked up some of the plastic from the container. Is this possible? I read that you can clean apple computer keys with isopropyl and those are plastic but now Im beginning to wonder what happens if you leave it soaked for many days. Any advice would be appreciated.

All right....I don't want to know what you tried to make or made. If you want to know if you smoked plastic you have to find out what kind of polymer the plastic was made of(most plastic bottles have that triangular recycling symbol and a number, the number will let you know what type of plastic it is, you just have to look it up). Once you know what kind of plastic it is you can check for its solubility in isopropyl alcohol. pm me if you have any other questions man.

I got to ask, and it is probably against form policy to talk about it. But when in the heck did you make smokable out of isopropyl alcohol?
-
Assumption: something was extracted from an organic product with IPA, then the extraction was absorbed with some normally smokable product, and (only partially unfortunately) dried before smoking.
cjordan: with a little bit of Googling you may find a better ... uh ... extraction method. You just need to go to the "school", but not just any school, really real old word for school, as in earliest Western civilization, old.

isopropyl isn't on there, but of the alcohols listed, it's extremely resistant.

Thanks so much nj bartel that makes me feel a whole lot better hearing that.

Dear CJordan;
Don’t fear! , ─ Your sickness must have a different cause.
Iso-Propanol is widely used in Industry as a “Cleaner” and for “Sterilising” (also in Hospitals!).
If you compare it with Ethanol:
Iso-Propanol LD50: ORL-RAT 5045 ppm/bw, ORL-MUS 3600 ppm/bw
Ethanol LD50: ORL-RAT 7060 ppm/bw, ORL-MUS 3450 ppm/bw,
you can see the toxicity is nearly the same.
But Iso-Propanol has several Advantages over Ethanol especially for cleaning things made of all different kinds of plastics, because its “Abrasively”(solubility of plastics) is very much lower as of Ethanol, but its property of cleansing is much higher.
An other important property is that its vapour pressure is quite similar to Ethanol, and so it will not remain for long at any place, even if you used it quite extensively!
You may also remember that in not so far times Iso-Propanol was used quite extensively in a lot of households for cleaning the “Shellac’s” during the whole playtime!
For how it also was/is used you may read on: "Isopropyl Alcohol (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isopropyl_alcohol)”.
I hope it makes you really a better sleep.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the info Argos! I feel so much better to hear a second person say its not so bad. Ive been sick for 3 days now but I am getting better. please nobody try to do what I did haha. Thank You everyone :D

Dear CJordan;
You’re welcome! ─ Soon again.
Kind Regards!

its not the iso-propanol you should be worried about. I mean. ethanol is normal drinking water. iso-propanol is only one carbon longer.
However, the plastic might not be that good

Um...that's completely illogical reasoning. Methanol is only one carbon shorter and is highly toxic and can be fatal.

Dear Weiguxp;
If you compare it with Water:
Ethanol LD50: ORL-RAT 7’060 ppm/bw, ORL-MUS 3’450 ppm/bw,
Water LD50: IPR-MUS 190’000 ppm/bw, IVN-MUS 25’000 ppm/bw,
LDLO: REC-WMN 180'000 ppm/bw.
Do you really think that Ethanol is like Water?
And it’s by far not only: “is only one Carbon longer”.
Good Luck!
