What is heat's role in this esterification process? Does it speed up the reaction?
If no heat is added, (eg. only salicylic acid, methanol and H2SO4 mixed together), would it still produce an ester?

Is the reaction endergonic or exergonic?

Esterification is a fairly well documented and simple reaction. It shouldn't be hard to find out whether or not the the reaction is endothermic or exothermic (endergonic/exergonic).

or you could use Hess' Law and find out for yourself...I would suggest you do this, it's good to practice.
