solubility of barium sulfate
« on: October 24, 2008, 02:37:14 PM »
ok so i have a hw question that asks for the solubility of barium sulfate if the hydronium ion concentration is .25

so i set up the equilibria BaSO4 -> ba+ + SO4- and H2O -> H3O+ + OH-

and then set up the charge balance equation and i think you plug in the .25 for H3O+, and i just cant figure out where to go from there

any help on this would be greatly appreciated

You have to take SO42- protonation into account.
