Does anyone know why the membrance cell requires higher purity brine than the diaphragm cell?

In the electrolysis of molten NaCl is it possible to use the Nerst Equation?

is it is possible to use the Nernst equation to calculate cell voltages for the electrolysis of molten NaCl
