Title: Distillation and exp.(prepare the chloride salt of methy-1-amine
Post by: timchai on March 08, 2009, 12:05:56 AM
how can we ensure that distillation is finished for b.p. about 120 degre..cel.
do we need to check the b.p. during exp. about the range or other method :'(
and also for another exp , we want to prepare the chloride salt of  methy-1-amine
we place acetamide and bromine, then add NaOH, shake it in cool water , yellow solution is formed
i don't know wt occur during this process :'( and also why do we need to shake in cool water, it decrease the rx rate  :'
in fact i think it produce C3COBr , as i think amide react with OH - ,gv out NH3 ,but i want to ask it should be hjeated, to boil away NH3 , shift eqm ,so i get lost :'(
then the solution is heated and add to NaOH and distillate , to gv product and pass it to HCl , i want to ask wt occur during process ??? and why inveryed funnel is used this time for the product go to HCl ???
