should I be worried about my health??? could any of the by products of this "experiment" be very toxic/carcinogenic and do some permanent damage to my health? wha should I do?

No, doubtfull, nothing.

And don't be afraid of chemistry. Everything around you is chemistry - every single item you have seen in your life (including your own fingers) is made of some chemical substances. Sure, some of them are dangerous, but driving faster than 5 mph is dangerous as well, yet billions of people do it on the daily basis - and they don't die.

Stick to simple procedures - use safety glasses, don't eat or drink reagents, if you are trying to sniff something - do it very carefully just waving some of the smell with your hand toward your nose. Don't put your fingers into reagents. You'll be on the safe side.
