Title: IR Spectroscopy of an Unknown Solid
Post by: wikitiki10 on September 14, 2023, 07:39:30 PM
Hi, I need help solving for the unknown structure of C11H10O. I took an IR but I have not done IR for a few years now, as I am coming back after a hiatus to finish my BS in Biochemistry. This is for Advanced Organic Chemistry Lab.

What are your thoughts? What does IR tell you?

A couple of questions.  What method of sample prep did you use?  KBr film, ATR, between NaCl discs?  What was the state of the material?  On the instrument, what kind of instrument did you use?  Probably FTIR?  How many runs?

In the pharmaceutical world, at least, that info would need to be included with each sample run. fYI.  Good luck.
