Title: Comparing 2 acids quantitatively
Post by: kissoftalons on August 29, 2005, 07:47:46 PM
Why is the pH of a o.1 mol/L solution of HNO3 equal to 1.0 when the pH of a o.1 mol/L solution of HCN is 5.0?

Express the difference between the acids quantitatively.

I'm not sure how to approach this? What would be the first step to solving this?

One is strong, second is weak. Read my pH calculation lectures (I have posted links several times today, or follow any link from my signature and select Lectures from the top menu) to learn how to calculate pH of strong and weak acid.
