A little help please...
« on: April 28, 2006, 07:13:15 PM »
I have a few questions...

The pH of a solution formed by the neutralization of nitric acid by sodium hydroxide is closest to... what number on the pH scale?

&

K2S is a salt of a..

(a) weak acid & weak base
(b) weak acid & strong base
(c) strong acid & strong base
(d) strong acid & weak base.

 :) thank you.

Nitric acid is a strong acid while NaOH is a strong base, so the final pH is 7 (assuming complete neutralisation)

hint: 2KOH + H2S => K2S + 2H2O
