Title: metanol removal
Post by: cpncoop on February 18, 2010, 02:08:22 PM
I'm looking to remove about 10% of methanol from DMAc in order to do the next step in a reaction.  I am aware that DMAc and MeOH do not form a stable azeotrope, but also have read that the vapor pressure of MeOH is significantly higher than that of DMAc, which gives me some hope in removing it with a bit of heat and vacuum.  Has anybody worked with this system and tried it before?  Any suggestions are welcome..

Since the difference in boiling points is about 100° centigrade, a simple distillation should do the trick.
