Title: synthesis of carbhydrate from acetyl CoA?

I'm wondering if i am on the right track here....

Question:
mammals cannot undergo net synthesis of carbohydrate from acetyl CoA, but the carbons of acetyl CoA can be incoporated into glucose and amino acids. Present pathway(s) by which this could come about.

so I think I *might* have one pathway. I'm leaving out some parts since they are fairly straigh forward. here goes...


                              oxidized                     beta ox (several steps)               TCA
odd-chain fatty acids --------> proponyl CoA -------------------> succinyl CoA --------> ocaloacetate ----> gluconeogenesis -----> glucose


are there other pathways to incorp acetyl coA into glucose and amino acids?
is this right?
