A mixture of gases includes hydrogen and two hydrocarbons with the same number of carbon atoms. One of the hydrocarbons is an alkane while the other is an alkene. When we fully burn 0.1 litres of this mixture it releases 0.21 litres of gas. When we use nickel as a catalisator and we heat the gases mixture they release 0.07 litres of one single gas.Find the molecular formula of each hydrocarbon and the percentage of each gas in the mixture.
From the second reaction i tried to find the volume of each element and it was 0.035 litres but that way calculating the number of carbon atoms is 0.55 and i've been trying to solve ti for too long. Please can anyone give me at least e hint?
