Title: Lab Jack
Post by: marc on October 15, 2009, 05:13:06 PM
I need to find a source for lab jacks, but Fisher seems to be the only company that makes them. Anyone have ideas about where to get them quick and cheap?

Is elemental scientific a pretty good store? I've always wanted to buy from them but I never buy stuff.. so I haven't had the opportunity.

First class company since I bought from them last in 04/05 ish.

Not able to ship everything out of the US, which I was annoyed at.  Their chemical quantities are great for home experimenting!

I personally only get my chemicals from Flynn Scientific, but I know others who have had no issues with them, although apparently around last Christmas through June they were fairly backed up because they moved to a new store front.

nj_bartel --

I wanted to get an idea of what there product and conduct was like
Also at one point I heard that their response was slow.
I have not had any first person account of continual or active or large orders.
So I was curious.

I ordered and received ~$300 of glassware from them recently.  Their response time was quite quick.  However, they do say on their site that they contract to the government, so all government orders take priority.  I.e. if there's a big government order, expect delays.  I have not had the opportunity to inspect/use the glassware yet, but I'll let you know when I do.  The glassware was exceedingly well wrapped (individually) however.

Before united nuclear stopped shipping non-chemicals out of the US, I had nothing but pleasant experiences on my 2 orders.

But your glassware was likely overpriced :(  UN is not the cheapest labglass supplier out there, nor for chemicals.  But their range of material and amateur focus makes me still love them.

Hm, where would you buy from?  There prices seemed rather fair relative to what I've seen (disregarding sketchy sites).

Unpacked it all today.  Appears to be very high quality, thick, borosilicate stuff.  Haven't tested under vacuum however.

United glass tech, cyanmar are other places I have ordered from.

UN sells top quality as you have just found, just a bit pricey.
