Title: Lability of Lithium Bis(TMS) amide in THF
Post by: Babcock_Hall on September 24, 2020, 12:22:59 PM
I have some sure-seal bottles of this reagent that are two years old but have never been opened.  Could there be a reaction with THF over time?  Is the reagent likely to still be good?  Thank you.

I think it could be, BuLi certainly reacts fast with THF at roomtemp.
Can you test the reagent, if you have a indicator somehow? If you make a anion of triphenylmethane, this should be yellow and then titrate it with an acid to see how much is consumed until the color dissapear? Acetic acid would be OK?
