Title: a ceramic contains 23 mol% MgO and the rest silicon dioxide
Post by: 98offroadZR2 on January 25, 2006, 07:08:20 PM
what is the wt% MgO in the ceramic, what is the mol% Si in the ceramic, what is the O/Si ratio in mol/mol in the ceramic

How do i go about solving this

To find the weight percentage of MgO, you'd look up the molar mass of MgO and then multiply that by the percentage of MgO moles in the ceramic.  (converting percentage into a decimal, of course)  Do the same for SiO, add the numbers, then divide the number you got for MgO by the sum of the two numbers.
