Title: pentyne is burned and benzene reacts with water

Okay - to be honest it has been 13 years since I have had chemistry and I am now in BioChem.  SCARY!  I am trying to get some help with explanations on some things .

I have figured out how to draw and name things but am really missing the reactions.  Here are 2 that I think should be simple so if you could provide me a description of why as it is the first week of class and if I do not know why or how I am going to get no where.

1-pentyne is burned

benzene reacts with water

I have to draw the chemical reaction equations using structural formulas.

In any combustion of a hydrocarbon (something that is made solely of carbon and hydrogen), the compound will react with oxygen to produce carbon dioxide and water as the sole products.
