chemical searches
« on: February 01, 2010, 01:11:18 PM »
I am a newbie with ordering compounds and I was wondering what the best way of searching for them. I have been told about SciFinder, but as of yet don't have access to it. So, I am just wondering what is the best way to search for a list of chemicals that I need from suppliers with different prices. I am trying to avoid going to Sigma because of past invoice problems. Any suggestions?

VWR is a good site to check out.  There are a number of online based searches, but VWR is a US based supplier...

It depends where you are based, in Canada the following are probably the most utilized by our company:

Fisher Scientific
Sigma Aldrich
VWR
Caledon
Anachemia

However it's worth shopping around as some of the price differentials are quite staggering.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
