Hi everyone,
I've recently got a small batch of Potassium Iodate, Sodium Iodate and Sodium Nitrite each. I have seen that Nitrates, nitrites and chlorates are good oxidizers in pyrotechnics. But unfortunately there isn't a lot of information on Iodates even though the MSDN for the above two says they must be kept away from fire as they are strong oxidizers. I tried to ignite the sugar + Sodium Nitrite mixture and it was quite vigorous, but the same with Potassoium Iodate + Sugar nothing happened. Isn't Potassium and Sodium Iodate a good oxidizers? Or only Nitrates, Nitrites & Chlorates are good in combustion?
Thanks in advance.
