alcohols and ketones nomenclature
« on: September 21, 2008, 05:12:54 PM »
Hey all. Just reviewing some alcohols and ketones naming here and I have a question.

Say you had ethanal (2 carbon groups, one with the O on it) ... Then, what if it was a double bond carbon chain? so the carbonyl group wouldn't have any H's attached to it. What would It be called then?

Thanks!

specific type of a ketone known as a ketene

I also think you meant you were reviewing aldehydes and ketones, not alcohols.
