Anyone have experience disposing of broken vacuum pumps? I moved to a lab where there are about 7 broken Welch belt pumps. Worth selling or trashing?
-
People sell a lot of broken stuff on ebay, "parts only" etc.

Some schools might want them. Academic budgets tend to be tighter than industry budgets.

Those things are valuable to someone! Almost any pump can be revived with a "rebuild" kit and some elbow grease.
And those Welch belt pumps are tanks. I bet they might just need a new motor (<$150 from Grainger) and maybe new seals and/or a belt.
Considering anew one could cost $2k+, that's a great deal.
Put on ebay if you don't want them.
