Post by: clout90265 on August 22, 2008, 10:36:43 PM
 what is the net ionic equation for the reaction that occurs during the titration of nitrous
acid with sodium hydroxide?

im not sure what species to include? thanks!

Nitrous acid is a weak acid so it does not completely dissociate in water.  So you can write for the net ionic equation :

HNO2 + OH- ---> NO2- + H2O

Na+ is not included in the net ionic equation because it is a spectator ion.
