Title: Online Problems
Post by: qbkr21 on September 01, 2008, 09:43:16 PM
Guys I need to know where I went wrong  ???

Each problem is in sequential order...

1) Name each of the following compounds

a) N20 (My answer Nitrous oxide) the system says it is wrong
b) NO  (My answer Nitric oxide) the system says it is wrong

2) Predict the chemical formula and name of the compound formed by the following elements

a) Al and I ( My answer was AlI3 and I named it Aluminium iodine I then tried Aluminium iodide) the system says both answers are wrong

***What do you make of this?  Are there any other names each can be called?  I thank you for your help.

1)Try more systematic names.
I.E. Yes N2O is Nitrous oxide, but see if the system wants Dinitrogen monoxide, etc etc.

2) Your answer is correct. But it might we wanting Al2I6 (multiply everything by 2). And for the name I would try Aluminum triiodide.

This is where computer systems let you down and need a real person to grade.

The system said both were wrong.  I'm really getting tired of using this program.  The last time I entered in a number in the system in two significant figures 16,000 it counted it wrong because it would only accept 16000.  I got very angry at my professor and nearly went APE SH!$ on him.  I HATE this program.
