Title: Metallurgy
Post by: vaibhav3114 on February 13, 2011, 03:35:06 PM
So I was studying physical and chemical processes used in metallurgy....but i am having a lot of problem in finding out the examples of elements which are processed through a particular method
for eg. for Gravity separation method i hardly found any mineral/element on which it is used except tin,tungsten....
can somebody plz post as many examples of elements you know for following particular methods:
1.)gravity separation
2.)magnetic separation(is it applicable on all iron ores?)
3.)froth flotation(examples for this method specially required)
4.)electrostatic separation
5.)leaching (need examples(if any) except aluminium, gold and silver)
6.)self reduction(another important required)
7.)hydro metallurgy(except gold and silver)

plz reply....need the info as soon as possible

froth flotation - sulfidic copper
heap leaching followed by hydrometallurgy (solvent extraction) - oxidic copper and recently zinc

You can find all the examples you need in Google.  For example, google 'self reduction' or maybe 'magnetic iron oxide).  Click on the first links.  It's like magic!

Back in my day cheating on your chemistry homework wasn't so easy.  :)
