In the reaction between benzophenone and reducing agent NaBH4 that produces benzhydrol what is the gaseous product that is evolved during the reaction and how is it formed.

In the reaction between benzophenone and reducing agent NaBH4 that produces benzhydrol what is the gaseous product that is evolved during the reaction and how is it formed.
Is this not hydrogen?

It isn't part of the reduction of benzophenone itself. If you are seeing a gas evolved during the reduction, it is a side reaction with the solvent. If you are seeing a gas evolved during quenching of excess NaBH4 with acid, that is also not part of the benzophenone reduction. You may think of NaBH4 as source of hydride ions.
