Title: Computer choice
Post by: sam_sam on March 24, 2013, 07:40:17 PM
Hi,
I will start the first year of my bachelor in chemical engineering. I am looking to buy an Apple computer, I would like to know which one is more apropriate or necessary for university and for my future job between these models? :

Macbook air with i7 (2,0 Ghz up to 3,2 Ghz) processor option
Macbook pro with retina display with standard i5 (2,6 Ghz up to 3,2 Ghz) processor
Macbook pro with retina display and i7 (3,0 Ghz up to 3,7 Ghz) processor option

Thank you.

Forget about buying one for your future job - they will all be obsolete by the time you finish your degree. Just get the best one you can afford at the moment.

Alternatively, buy last years model on ebay.  usually half the price and works just as well.
I bought a used toughbook 5 years ago.  Use it every day since with no problems.  Survived landing on it on my back after falling in a cave too.

Did they have WiFi in the cave?

Nothing about an Apple computer is necessary.

I wish.  I travel light, only one small backpack, everything in it goes with me everywhere when I travel.

Nothing about an Apple computer is necessary.

Depends on what your thoughts about having a status symbol that millions of other people also have.
