Explain the difference between Benzyl ammonium chloride and Benzalkonium chloride.

I would say that there is no difference. They both have a benzyl group (Phenyl-CH2)-

Then benzyl ammonium chloride is a synonym used for benzalkonium chloride?

Benzylammonium chloride is [BnNH3]+Cl-
Benzalkonium chloride (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzalkonium_chloride) is apparently [BnNMe2R]+Cl- where R = alkyl
