Im doing a research on canned food products, Solvents that Im using are methanol, acetone and hexane. They are barel solvents and need to be distilled before use. Do I have to use a water bath or a heating mantle ? Wheter a coiled distilation condenser or a normal one is suitable.

Steam baths are safer but the steam may condense the outside of a normal condenser and enter your collection vessel so it is advisable to use one where the coolant passes through a central coil.
What analytical techniques are you using for your project?
