Title: Nessler reagent reactions
Post by: Rutherford on March 31, 2014, 08:12:12 AM
Which ions react with Nessler reagent?
Besides ammonium, I think that sulphate react, too, but I am not sure.

No, Neßler is senstive to ammonium.

I remember that some (an)ion can mask the test for ammonia, but I can't recall which one. I would tip on one of these: chloride, sulphate, nitrate. Does someone know something about this?

Probably Chloride, because HgCl is unsolouble. Sulfate and Nitrate is no problem.

That's it. Thank you.
