I did a reaction of 1,1-dipheylyethanol with Montmorillonite clay, heated by microwave, but I'm not sure what product I isolated. I have spectra for it, and I can tell the the mass is 360, and that there is at least one methyl group and there are phenyl groups present. I think that an oxygen is involved, either as an alcohol or as an ether. Any ideas on what products this reaction could form??

What type of spectra do you have?
What makes you think that you have an oxygen present? You might try getting an IR spectrum to see if you have an alcohol.
