Title: Phenol measurement by GC-ECD
Post by: Faithy on November 27, 2015, 08:06:19 AM
Dear GC experts,

Can I measure phenol directly by GC-ECD without derivatizing it? And would that be possible to detect phenol of range 0~30mg/L? Please help me out.

Lots of thanks!

The US Pharmacopoeia has a method to detect phenol impurity in the common preservative phenoxyethanol. It uses a flame ionization detector, but it could be adapted for ED.
