Title: combustion atomic analysis
Post by: Sona on April 26, 2017, 01:05:41 AM
Write the balanced equation for the combustion of C8H7NO2SBrCl in a CHNS elemental analyser.

C,H, N and S will form CO2, H2O, NO2 or NO, SO2. this I cn understant but what will be the fate of Br and Cl? Are they present in the elemental form inside the analyser?

I would go with HCl and HBr. Halogens are way too reactive to be in the elemental form. At the same time nitrogen is quite likely to become mostly N2.
