Title: Elephant toothpaste experiment.
Post by: sharbeldam on June 27, 2019, 03:01:46 PM
Hello, I want to try the elephant toothpaste experiment with MnO2 as my catalyst, the thing is that this material is solid and every video I watched, it appears that the Manganese dioxide is a black liquid like a crude oil, can I use the solid MnO2 or do they dissolve it in some sort of acid in these videos?

Thanks alot

I would think they make a MnO2-slurry in water? The powder will work fine.
Here they use KI-solution, I dont know wich is best?

KI is probably easier to clear up

I heard that MnO2 works better than KI, is that false?
