Title: Synthesis of ondansetron
Post by: gabsalks on June 30, 2019, 11:43:10 PM
Hi guys,

I'm having serious trouble with this homework. The first part I've already solved, it's the second one (the one marked with the "?*") that got me stuck. I'm not sure what to add to the carbonyl group that will facilitate the next reactions. Can someone give me a light?

Thanks!

In the first step, will not the aldehyde react with the amino-group?

Hi rolnor, thanks for the reply.
I think the way it's written may be a little confusing. The reactions have to happen in this order.

If you work backward from your product, something may occur to you.
