Title: Dilute of Benzocaine
Post by: geo on July 30, 2019, 06:59:57 PM
I need to dilute a 20% benzocaine GEL solution to 7.5%, but I'd like to keep it gel like. A liquid is not wanted! I was thinking I'd use xanthan gum to do so.

So my benzocaine gel is 20% net weight is 0.33 oz.

20% * 0.33oz = 6.6

6.6/7.5% = 0.88 oz

0.88 oz - 0.33oz = 0.55 oz

7.5% * 0.88 oz = 6.6

Would adding a total of 0.55 OZ xanthan gum give me the correct dilution to the gel? You'd end up with a total of 0.88 OZ of material at 7.5%. I'm not sure how the consistency would be, but I need to try!

Ha! Thank you very much.
