Title: How can i solve this synthesis in 5 steps? Please!

How do you theoretically synthetize cyclopentanone --> 1 --> 2 --> 3 --> 4 -->5 --> 3-ethyl-N-methyl-cyclohexanamine (in 5 steps)?

What wildfyr said (see red link above).  However, I see no harm in a very small hint, which is that I find it is generally easier to work backward from the product.

But it depends what reactions you are familiar with. Are you being asked this in the context of a particular course you are taking?
