Title: Flame test
Post by: Korotkovap on September 06, 2019, 03:48:39 PM
Why sodium overwhelms potassium in flame test? I heard that atomic emission plays a key role but I don't understand this. As far as I know yellow color has less energy than purple, so in my mind potassium should overwhelm sodium.

If you have seen a fire of burning wood or paper, which colour do the flame normally has? Wood contain sodium and potassium minerals.

The yellow colour outshine the blue one.
