Title: Explain the essential requirements to apply Background correction methods?
Post by: AussieKenDoll on September 13, 2019, 01:55:00 AM
Background Correction Methods are

   1. Two-line background correction method

   2. Continuum background correction method

   3. Zeeman background correction method

   4. Smith - Hieftje method or Self reversal method

Essential requirements to apply Background correction methods

   1. Radiation of the line should not be absorbed by the  analyte atoms

   2. The line should be closed as much as possible to the analytical line
(Wavelength difference generally < 1 nm) This helps to minimize the error due to structural  background

   3. If radiation from impurity in the hollow cathode is used, that element should not be present in the sample to be analyzed

Can someone please explain these requirements to apply Background correction methods for atomic absorption spectrometry?
