Title: bad SDS PAGE gel
Post by: Babcock_Hall on October 26, 2019, 04:36:22 PM
I poured some polyacrylamide gels last week that turned out extremely sticky and more of a liquid than a solid.  Although I was able to run a normal looking pre-stained standard lane, it was almost impossible to pull the plates apart, and there was nothing that I could stain.  The gel was more of a goo at this point.  I made up fresh acrylamide with a different manufacturer of bis-acrylamide, and the gel looked much more normal prior to running (I am running it right now).  Therefore the problem was either the bis, or I simply made a gross error in preparation.  Has anyone ever seen a similar result?  If not can anyone guess what the problem was?  Thanks.
