Title: Why wouldn’t this reaction be expected to occur?

PF_5 +F_2=PF_7

I’m pretty sure it has something to do with oxidation numbers, but I’m not exactly sure why.

How many valence electrons have phosphorus?

Compounds with coordinate number 7 are very rare and only very large atoms form them.

So, if the valence electron number was 7, then the reaction could happen?
