Title: How does heat affect the reaction mechanism
Post by: DomnicFernas on November 14, 2019, 05:49:43 AM
I have this reaction: Ketone + KCN/H+ + heat How does the mechanism go? I think the -CN attacks the partially positive carbon in the ketone and then the -O grabs the +H to form a cyanohydrin. Then the reaction goes to form a carboxilic acid Is the reaction right?

And how it would be the reaction mechanism but with an aldehyde Please give me more examples with reaction mechanisms with heat and without heat
