Hello! I am currently in Organic 2 Lab and I need some help with this lab. I have to identify two side reactions from a diels-alder reaction between isoprene and powdered maleic anhydride. I have attached a photo of the reaction. I have already identified the main reaction product.

What are your reaction conditions? This is very important (eg.: if doing in water we might expect the ring opening of the anhydride but thats not gonna happen much in toluene) What are the products you already identified?

Do you mean that you need to identify specific side products that you actually made, or do you mean possible (potential) side products? If the latter, then what are your thoughts so far?

ene reaction maybe?
