Title: High School Summer Program Chemistry Help #2
Post by: Kanfoti on March 10, 2020, 02:40:31 AM
I'm trying to apply for a highly competitive STEM Summer Program, and I was wondering if some of you could please help me with this problem.  In it I have to sort the different molecules into groups and explain why I sorted them that way.  So far, I have deduced that half of the molecules are acids and the other half are bases.  I've also noticed that all the molecules have hydrogen bonds as well.  All the molecules are also polar.  I'm pretty sure that H2SO4 and the HCl04 are tetrahedrons while HNO3 is a trigonal planar.  However, when I look at the molecules KOH, CA(OH)2 and LIOH on molview.com, I cannot make sense of the 3D structures.  Do bases look like that?  Thanks so much!

Think about ions för the Bases.

Alkali metals and earth metals?
