Title: Multiple choice question on Dalton's law and gas pressure/solubility
Post by: peeling_potato on April 04, 2020, 11:10:08 PM
Hello, the original question is:

Which statement is not part of Dalton's law?

a) The total pressure exerted by a mixture of gases is equal to the sum of the pressures exerted by each constituent gas.

b) The more a gas is concentrated in the gas mixture, the more it dissolves in large quantities in the liquid.

c) the pressure exerted by each gas is directly proportional to the percentage of gas in the mixture

d) The more a gas is concentrated in the gas mixture, the less it dissolves in large quantity in the liquid

I've determined that A and C are a part of Dalton's law, but both B and D are part of something else -- Henry's law, and I'm not sure how to figure it out.

I guess the real question is which is true, The more a gas is concentrated in the gas mixture, the more it dissolves in large quantities in the liquid. or The more a gas is concentrated in the gas mixture, the less it dissolves in large quantity in the liquid.

Is it more or less? Thanks in advance, these online classes are teaching us things that I've never encountered before.
