Title: Solubility
Post by: therezolu on April 05, 2020, 04:18:31 PM
Hello,
Which compound is more soluble? The amide-Butanamide or Carboxylic Acid-Butanoic Acid. I personally believe it's the amide since it has 2 N-H bonds therefore more opportunities for hydrogen bonds where as the acid only has one O-H bond.
However, I read information about accepting and giving Hydrogen Bonds therefore i'm a little confused

Acid is more solouble. H+ can be released.

It has no such property as water solubility for butyric acid. It mixes with water unlimitedly (miscible with water).
