Title: Reaction between Boric acid and Calcium chloride

Hello!

I've read in the Wiley's guide of chemical incompatibilities that CaCl2 and H3BO3 are not compatible to each other. Unfortunately some kind of explanation is missing in the text. I am now just wondering why and which reaction between both can occcur?

I made some tests with dry powder mixtures before, and it seems when mixing some gas forms after 24 hours which leads to a positive color reaction of KI-starch paper.

Is it possible that both components form a Calcium borate type, releasing H2 and Cl2 which would be oxidizing?

Hope someone can help me to solve this riddle  ;)

Calciumchloride has a similar effect like Mannit, it will enhance the acidity pH will drop. But that it will develop oxidation compounds is not known.
