Title: Hexanol stain
Post by: likeaphrodite on July 06, 2020, 07:15:17 PM
The action of cleaning products is explained by the establishment of intermolecular forces between the solvent and the solute, it is also necessary to take into account the polarity and molecular geometry of each of the intervening substances. Based on these concepts, solve the following situation:
you want to get rid of an hexane stain and the following pairs of solvents are available to choose from. Which do you consider more convenient in each case? Justify with theoretical arguments.
Pair 1): diethyl ether; 1-butanol
Pair 2): octane; octanoic acid
Pair 3): toluene; ethanol`

You'll have to react quickly to intervene on a hexane stain. Normal people would wait until it has evaporated.
