Title: Hydride Bonding question
Post by: sparrowling on July 19, 2020, 12:23:19 PM
The question is what are 2 binary hydrides that can release hydrogen through purely high temperature and pressure and not with reaction with water, and explain the nature of the hydride bonds in them.

2 examples from reading online seem to be MgH2 and TiH2, but is it just because despite also being ionic bonds they are less reactive metals and hence dont react with water?
