Title: How do I convert material prep test method for ICP-OES to the one for AAS
Post by: labnerds on July 22, 2020, 10:11:47 PM
I wanted to perform heavy metal in water analysis. I have a test method for ICP-OES. Can I use the material prep test method as is for AAS instead. Or do I need to do additional adjustment. I am using EPA 200.7 method as a reference.

200.7 prep should work fine for AAS applications for many elements.  However, please keep in mind that optical interference will be different for emission (OES) vs. absorption (AAS).  For some elements (eg., Ag and Au) they can precipitate with high chloride (HCl) digestions and thus lower your response.
